Blog blahs and a meme thingy

A very big thank you to Poetikat for coming to my rescue and tagging me with a meme!

I have total blog blahs this week and have not had any inspiration to post this week.

Yay! a meme!

Ok...here are the rules:

The rules:
1. Post the link to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others that you like and tell why.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post.

1. Kat and her Invisible Keepsakes!

2. Oh...this was hard because I've posted so many reeeeeally bad songs that I like that I had a hard time trying to come up with some new ones.

Deep breath...here it goes:

Laughter in the Rain by Neil Sedaka - When this song came out I thought it was a woman singing it, so at the part in they lyrics when it said: "She turns to me and she kisses me." I thought I was hearing some kind of revelation.

Then when I saw this guy on TV, I thought for sure he was gay himself.

I still think he is!

Whatever the case...I still secretly like this song!

Copacabana - I betcha know all the words...yup...I bet you do. You have to admit it...it's just one of those songs you can't help singing along to when it comes on! Make fun of it all you want, but when it's karaoke night at the bar...you secretly want to sing this. Come on...admit it!

The Chaquita Banana song - Ok...it's more of a commercial than a song...but my Mom used to sing this song and I SWORE she made up the lyrics when it says: "But, bananas like the climate of the very, very tropical equator So you should never put bananas in the refrigerator". It really does say that!!! Now every time I see Chaquita bananas...I sing this song!

Morning Train by Sheena Easton - This one I'm cheating on a bit because I just saw Presbyfruit (check out her sword!) mention it on her blog and immediately I started singing it.

I was a "Sheena girl" in high school.

Kind of like the "Madonna girl" not quite as cool!

I had the hair the makeup...I was a dork

:::sigh::: she was HOT!

Oh...and that Scottish accent....grrrrrrr!

(I actually had one of her songs as my wedding song...yeah...that's right baby! I was a COMPLETE dork. Not gonna tell you which one...you'll have to guess!)

Dark Lady by Cher - This brings out the inner drag queen in me. There always has to be a Cher song in a drag show.

ta da....

As for rule #3 - I'm not going to "tag" anyone...but there are a few who I would just LOVE to see respond to this one.

Namely:

Dive at Small Glass Planet...for all things fun and embarassing and musically related.

Sharkbutt at East Coast Randori - for all things twisted and askew

Neetzy at Negative Space - 'cause I got teased enough about my taste in music as a kid...I need ammunition!

Vic - at Tumblewood - I like his blog and I think he has some secret musical anomalies that he really wants to share with the group!

Deb at Middle Girl - she just had a birthday...go over and help her blow out all her candles!!!

And....anyone else feeling the blog blahs and can't think of a darn thing to post at the moment.

Ah sis,

I have to do a bit of research, because I don't know the names of all the one hit wonders...but, I want to tag Monkeytooth!

Monkeytooth scares me

Shazza, your wish is my command. And my answers may alarm you.

Ohhhhh...I can't wait Sharkbutt!

Brrr … That's one scary list, Shazza.
Consider me tagged. I'll get right on it.
I am SO glad I can't remember what Sheena Easton sang (other than didn't she do a Bond theme once?), so your wedding song is safe from me.

Wait! Are you saying Barry Manilow is NOT cool!?! What about Jump Street Boogie (The American Bandstand Theme)? "I write the songs, I write the songs....He sure did. I loved that album and was deeply embarrassed to let my friends see that I owned it. But, I also was a KISS freak!
'Not so sure I'm any less embarrassed for that.

Dive - HA...scary but rather predictable unfortunately!

Vic - were you one of those guys that always drew the KISS logo on his books and sang "Beth" to your favorite girl?

Five songs I'm embarrassed to admit that I like and why?

Well, I have my assignment. I'll get to work.

Gee thanks, ever so... :)

This is great, Shaz!

When I read your post about "Bad Blood" a couple of weeks back, I thought you didn't like Neil Sedaka, and I always liked THIS song (LITR), so I'm relieved to see it here.

At the Copa...Copacabana! Yah! That's another one I didn't think of.

I didn't know there were other words to the Chiquita banana song!

I almost added Morning Train to my list too! I did like Sheena Easton - I loved her hair!

Dark Lady!!! That is SUCH a coincidence. My friend Deb, just mentioned Cher at her blog and I said DL and Gypsies, Tramps were the only ones of hers I really liked. Weird thing is, I haven't thought of the song DL for YEARS!

Thanks for participating!

Kat

No Shazza,

Naw..I sang "Love Gun" (C'mon, I'm a guy, what d'ya expect)...Kiss was actually the first concert I ever attended. Opening act was Cheap Trick before the US knew who they were. They were pretty big in Seattle. Robin Zander can belt it out. Of course, my favorite Seattle band is Heart. Although they lost me after Bebe Le Strange.

Vic - I heart Heart! They were awesome!

dive said...

Yup; Heart made it on to my list, too.

Shazza,
I'd never actually heard the real Chiquita Banana song. I only knew this: I'm Chiquita Banana and I'm here to say, how to get rid of your teacher today. You peel a banana and you throw on the floor, and you watch your teacher go a sailin' out the door. cha cha cha. Now spend the rest of the day tryin' to get that outta your head:D

Victor - damn you! (cha cha cha)
