Fun week!

It started off on Sunday night listening to the sounds of first one dog throwing up all over our carpet and then the second dog throwing up all over our carpet.

Ever 30 minutes they threw up from 7:00 PM Sunday night until 7:00 AM Monday morning. I didn't get much sleep as you can imagine.

As soon as I thought they were going to hurl again I picked them up and tried to get them outside - but I didn't always get the timing quite right.

We took them to the vet on Monday morning and we can narrow the cause down to perhaps a can of food they ate on Sunday night - since that is when the hurlfest started. He gave them a shot and some meds and put them on a bland diet.

To see two very lively little dogs just laying about sleeping and barely responding to their names is heartbreaking but I am glad to report they are finally on the mend.

This is Casey - in all his glory!

And Corky the best little dog in the world!

Casey started eating again yesterday, Corky not until tonight - finally. Their last meal was Sunday night!

With that crisis over I can finally relax.

I did have a good conference call with a potential new job on Wednesday and a wonderful e-mail from my former T&F Big Cheese giving me words of encouragement. Tomorrow I get to volunteer at an alpaca farm - so the week is ending on a good note for sure!

Here are some of my new alpaca friends:

I don't remember this gal's name, but I love her color.

That's me with the little plastic booties on - so I don't bring any "parasites" with me.

This is a cria (baby alpaca) letting us inspect him. He's a handsome little guy isn't he?

With all this time off you would think I would be blogging a lot more but the opposite has been true and the reason has been I just haven't felt like it and I haven't really had anything to say.

I hope to get back into it again soon.

Hope you all are well land I'll be visiting everyone again soon!

Take care!

On bla di, oh bla da

Life goes on bra,
la la how the life goes on.

So I got fired today at 7:45 am.

Do you know I've NEVER been fired before in my life? I've been laid off, but never fired.

I guess there isn't too much of a difference - they both have the same end result - NO JOB.

The big difference is how you feel when you get "fired". You kind of feel like crap. Angry is another one but after all I've been through with this company my final feeling is good riddance.

It is amazing how my perception of this job when it was offered to me and the actual job was so dramatically different. It is also amazing how my perception of the company changed as well. Don't get me wrong - I wish them much success and I think they will make it through these tough times. I also hope my now ex-boss gets a good dose of what's coming to her some day.

So - I'll apply for unemployment and I'll hit up all of my networks and see what I can find out there. In the meantime I have lots and lots of little house projects I can do to keep me busy!

Cheers all!

Miss me?

Nah...didn't think so. But I missed you!

I thought I would not have any blogging withdrawals but I did.

I think I need a 12 step program.

Ok...here's the scoop. Not that you asked, but what the fa...I'm gonna tell you anyways.

New Job - So far so good. I will be "on location" training for a month and then I'll get to work from home. Starting a new job around the holidays is not a good idea though. No one wants to work. I mean seriously!? Everyone else is on vacation or winter break or skiing or whatever.

Co-workers - um...well - since I am so afraid of being sued, I am going to "plead the 5th" on that subject. I will just quote the wonderful James Carville and say that Pennsylvania is : "Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, with Alabama in between."

Nuff said!

Living arrangements - Oh, this kind of makes me sad. Well...not kind of, but really. I had set up an arrangement to share a house with a woman in Limeport, PA. M and I went up a few weekends ago and scouted out a few places and as soon as I walked into this house I felt at home.

300 year old farm house in the middle of freakin' no where. The home owner is an artist/writer very sweet, very cool. Has 2 dogs and a cat. Beautiful stone fireplace, exposed beam ceilings, original hard wood floors. Just freakin' gorgeous!

Three little problems:

No internet access - I mean NONE! Total dead zone. Not even a stray unprotected wireless connection I could connect with.

No microwave - how does one live without a microwave? Apparently she does! This is a "salt of the earth" woman. Recycles, composts, live very frugally. No TV (that's fine). Only has a little transistor radio to listen to NPR on and no microwave.

Last but the biggest issue really - she has a cat. I Love cats. I love all animals really. Just ask M. If it is cute and fuzzy/furry/living/ has a pulse I love it. But unfortunately I am allergic to cats. I took some allergy medicine a few days ahead of time to fight off the sniffles and scratchy throat, but literally 30 minutes after my arrival I felt my sinuses beginning to build up pressure and my ears and throat were feeling scratchy.

If I were only to stay there one night, I could live with the symptoms but a whole month?

No...sorry

I apologized profusely to this woman. I felt horrible. I envisioned nights with a book in front of the fireplace and a cup of tea.

:::sigh:::

Instead I am sitting here at the Best Western in Bethlehem, PA.

Not that there is anything wrong with that mind you...but my little vision is crushed.

Smashed on the rocks of little allergens working their way into my mucus membranes.

But...all is not lost. I think I've made a new friend in her and I hope we can grow that friendship in the future.

We were chatting a bit and she was telling me a bit about herself. She is an artist. She used to teach in NYC. By some kind of odd coincidence she met with Louise Bourgeois who is an artist world renowned.

I have to admit here...I didn't know who she was, but my new friend...we'll call her "P" showed me this book called: Destruction of the Father/Reconstructions of the Father and gave me a little briefing about her friendship and collaboration with this wonderful artist.

Now I am intrigued. Most definitely.

Even though the homesharing thing did not work out I think...I KNOW I have a new friend in "P". I hope to keep in touch with her and learn a bit more about her life. This is good. Definitely good.

In the meantime, I have found a new place to dwell. Still no internet access but I'll see if I can "finagle" something with my new employer.

I'm in sales...heck...that's what I do...finagle!

OHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...and I've thought of a new musical torture for the New Year! You'll LOVE it...and hate it at the same time!

So stay tuned because Friday January 2nd is the first installment and I've got a special treat planned for you all!

heh, heh, heh!

Be well, stay save and Peace to all!

Happy New Year!

The Day After

'Twas the day after Christmas
and all through the town
all the shoppers were busy
Since prices were down.

All the retailers were open
at the butt crack of day
since they didn't make money
After Thankssgiving day

OK...that's about all I can think of at the moment. If anyone would like to add to this poem, please feel free. It may be a fun exercise!

I will tell you that the Murphy clan headed out to Doylestown, PA today to visit the Michener Museum.

Dive - Neetzy and I hugged each other for you so I hope you felt the love dude because it was there.

We had a wonderful time roaming about the exhibits. There are a some wonderful impressionists that came out of Bucks County.

Neetzy, being the artist in the family may go into more depth than I can about the artists so I won't even try. My favorite exhibit was called Shifting Ground, through which I have a new favorite photographer Paula Chamlee. Forgive me if I don't have the right words to describe her work, but I am not the wordsmith of the family. (and I've had too much wine to coherently put a creative sentence together at the moment)

I will write more tomorrow, but for now I will leave you with another version of a song that I've already posted here, but felt compelled to re-post again because it is just....so.....well....um.....words just escape me.

(Thank you Presby for this one! I love you for this! Hope you're feeling better! )

PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR A WONDERFUL TREAT!!!!! (Dive, you'll love this)

Sunday, November 23, 2008

Ahhhh, home again.

We're in our jammies and stretched out on the couch each with a laptop and a glass of wine.

Life is good!

I can't seem to organize my thoughts right at the moment, but I will hopefully have a bit more wits about me tomorrow.

Then again - maybe not. ;)

night night
