Whatever gets you through the night,,,

...it's alright. It's alright.

So, what is it that gets YOU through the night?

Winning the lottery?

Fantasizing of another life? another lover? Your kids? Your spouse? A fresh clean spring day when it's snowing outside? A favorite song?

There are so many things that transport us into a place and time away from where we are now aren't there?

This is what transports me right now, the thought of owning this:

Here is the front of this ol' 1872 farmhouse:

It's a duplex, there are two dwelling as you may notice from the two doorways. The left side of the house is completely inhabitable, but the right side has been meticulously maintained.

This is an addition that was made later, but it's very quaint and cozy.

Another view from the back of the house.

Here is a view of the spring house from inside.

The spring house - needs some work but the foundation is intact.

The back of the barn - will need a LOT of work.
Front of the barn - it's huge and it does need work but for the most part is in pretty good shape.

19+ acres - 2 ponds and a small steam connecting them.

6 + acres of pasture and the rest wetlands that cannot be built on - which is fine by me.

A nice view too, but I can't seem to past them all together so here are just a few shots:

This is my dream and I hold it close.
It gets me through the night.
So - what is it that gets YOU through the night?

Beautiful weekend

We had a little warm spell here in the northeast this weekend. Today it was like spring outside. All of the snow has melted and everyone was outside enjoying the break from the typical winter doldrums.

After our little jaunt to visit farms yesterday we decided to have a lazy day today. So we slept in a little, took the pups for their walk, ran a few errands that just needed to be done and then I lit a nice fire in the chiminea on the back deck and we proceeded to sip wine, dream about our little farm and relax.

I love days like this!

I love weekends like this!

Later I fired up the grill and cooked some tender and juicy london broil and marinated asparagus . mmmmmmmmmmm...mmmmmmmmmmmm....good stuff.

Now M and I are on our nicely padded middle aged asses...each armed with a lap top and a cute little dog sleeping by our sides and enjoying the quiet.

Life is fucking awesome sometimes!

I hope where ever you are you had a similar weekend!

Peace all.

Potential

M and I took a ride out to see a potential farm to buy to raise our potential alpacas!

We both fell in love with it!

Here are a few pictures of it.

It was built in 1872. It's and old stone home with a barn and 19+ acres attached.

The home is actually a duplex. One side was probably the main residence and the other side may have been built for workers, but it's much bigger than it appears.

The original property has been subdivided, but what is remaining cannot be. It's partial wetlands and partial farmlands so what is there is basically it. Another building can be added but only if it is for farm purposes

Have you ever had a vision of a home that you wanted to be in?

This is mine!

As soon as we turned into the cedar line driveway and saw the old rickety bard I knew I would love it.

The realtor (a very cool guy named John Spears) walked us around part of the property which has a stream and a pond and just a gorgeous view of the mountains (yes, there are some mountains in NJ!) it was spectacular.

M fell in love with it too.

Sometimes we think that we don't have a lot in common, but we share a view of our future life and how we want to live it.

I don't see me working behind a desk for the rest of my life. I'm an outdoors person and I like to have a physical part in things that I do or I find myself becoming lazy and complacent.

There would be a LOT of work involved in getting this place up and running like we would want it, but we could take it slow and rent out some of the land to be farmed while we set up the place. We hope we can ask our two brothers in-law to help us get started: watch out Doug and Ramon!!!

We could get on our little knees and ask a certain Carpenter gal that we know to make us a sign for the farm which we already thought we would name: JeannieRose in memory/honor of our Moms.

:::sigh:::

All of this is a dream right now and it may not be this particular place (although I hope it is) we really want to make this dream come true.

Wish us luck because we put an offer in and we just need a few more details to see if we can make this happen!

eeeeeks!

Fries are done!

When I was in high school (many, many, many years ago), I worked at a major fast food chain. Hey, it was money in my pocket and all my friends worked there!

Anyway - in any of these places, they have timers for everything you cook because somewhere, someone came up with the perfect formula that if you take 1 8oz frozen hamburger patty and put it on a griddle that is whatever degrees, it will take approximately 4 minutes to cook. (this is rough...I don't remember the actual times)

You got used to which timers were for which foods, each one had a distinct sound to it. I was the fry girl for a while...so the fry timer was what my ear was tuned to. Once I heard that lovely beep, beep, beep...I would spring into action! ( I was a damn good fry girl if I do say so myself).

I had a dream about this last night...I heard that familiar beep, beep, beep and kept saying to myself..."the fries are done, the fries are done." but I couldn't turn off the timer.

It wasn't the timer...it was my alarm clock this morning telling me that my fries were done and it was time for me to get my ass out of bed!
