1. offensive term: an offensive term meaning affected by a psychiatric disorder
2. ridiculous: not showing good sense or practicality
Add them together you get Idiosyncrazies!
That is the name of our new business.
Having been unemployed for over 1 year and dreading the thought of going back to a corporate environment again Margie and I decided to create our own business.
Idiosyncrazies!
It will be a gallery/gift/studio store with a focus on local artists and artisans, also on Fair Trade items and products that use recycled goods. There may be a few odd things thrown in there for my personal amusement.
Margie has been the driving force on this project. She has encouraged me and supported me and gave me little booster talks when I told her how scared to death I am at failing at this. She kept egging me on and egging me on and little by little I started to get excited about the idea.
Margie's philosophy is: If we fail we fail, but at least we tried!
So I have been researching different places for "stuff" that I want to put in my store and my daughter the retail maven is going to help me set up the space and I have friends who have offered their input on how to market and set up, so I feel very confident now that this is all good!
We are only waiting on a few little things to get the lease on the space we found and by April 15th we should be able to get in and get to work.
The Grand Opening is planned for Memorial Day weekend with a sneak preview for friends and family the week before.
Robyn from "Just Sayin'" had a post called: "One Mans Garbage" about a group called UniquEco that takes the flip flops that was up along the coast of Kenya and recycles them into beads. This story has stuck in my mind and was one of the many incentives for the items I want to put in my store.
I will keep you posted on our progress and perhaps start a new thread of posts on my journey.
Here are a few pictures of the space we have rented as it is now. I'll take more pictures once we are all done!

Thanks 8th! No merchandising on-line at first. I really want to develop a strong local presence before I venture into anything online. We will have a website and there will be pictures of what we are selling so if you see anything you like, just drop me a note!
