I took a walk at lunch time today just to get out of the office for a bit.
It is about 70 degrees outside and everyone in Philly had the same idea obviously.
Walking past some workers setting up the stage area down at Penns Landing, I heard this song:
I was instantly hurled back in time to my senior year in high school. I remember my friends and I driving around in my ol' reliable 1967 puke green Dodge Dart.
It didn't have an FM radio so I always carried a boom box with me...and lots of batteries.
We had the windows open and drove around Ocean City (or if we were adventurous Wildwood) singing along to this song...cruisin' for boys.
Holy shit I feel old.

You might be.
I myself feel at half as old as I feel but twice as young as I look.
Oh my God! I also graduated from HS in 1981. My first car was a puke green 1969 Dodge Coronet. My beloved father bought it from a little old lady for $300. Even today I find myself strangely attracted to American-made muscle gars...despite the insanely high price of gasoline.
I still cannot believe that I will be 45 in August and that it's very likely my life is half over. On most days, I feel 30 years old!

No, REO's lead singer is old. He was on "Don't Forget The Lyrics" a couple of weeks ago and looked like a fool. Old man in leather pants, voice didn't hold up.
Have you taken Kat's 70's music quiz? It's a riot.

Wyld - HUH?
Hi Sheryl - thanks for stopping by. I think our generation will NEVER feel our age. Do you ever remember your Mom and Dad driving around at 40 years old blasting songs out of the radio like a teenager? Nope!
Lulubelle - Ouch! We saw them in concert a few years ago...it was Styx and REO Speedwagon...it was kind of painful. I will check out the music quiz...thaks for the tip!
I graduated in 1980!
Did you know the lead singer for REO Speedwagon, Kevin Cronin, was on "Don't Forget the Lyrics" with Wayne Brady? (Oh, just noticed Lulubelle's filled you in.)
He looks totally different from this video - he now has short, white hair, punky leather pants, but he's still skinny as a rail.
So, I'll be 47 in June. You can cry for me, 45 is not so bad.
Kat
I saw Styx at a general admission concert in 1979. We were at the front when the doors opened and the crown surged. I almost got thrown through a plate glass window. Between that and the Who concert around the same time, I swore off general admission concerts, particularly at indoor venues.
