Sunday Cookin'

I like to cook.

I don't LOVE it, but I really, REALLY enjoy enjoy it.

The only thing I don't like about cooking is when it becomes more of a chore.

Routine.

When it feels like you are eating the same recipes every week.

When I do have the time to cook the way I want to...I always have to have theme music playing behind me to motivate me.

If you have ever seen the movie Bandits, there is a great scene when Cate Blanchet is cooking while singing "Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler.

While I'm not that animated...I definitely need a "cooking soundtrack" playing in the background.

I also dance when I'm cooking...sometimes you just gotta!

Tonight I decided to cook one of my favorite shrimp recipes. It's quick....and easy and damn it's good:

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

INGREDIENTS
1 large clove garlic
1 tablespoon coarse salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined

I let them soak for about 1/2 hour in this stuff to make sure they've soaked up that flavor.

They are cooked for about 2-3 minutes on each side...just until they are pink...and still juicy. You do not want to over cook shrimp.

This was served over linguine which I drizzled some sauteed garlic, butter, a bit of basil, oregano, and parsley.

The "Cooking Soundtrack" for this evening was: Peggy Lee

M and I were doin' a little "bumpin' and grindin'" while things were gettin' hot in the kitchen.

mmmmmmmmm...mmmmmmmmm....good stuff!

Sounds yummy!

Speaking of theme music, if you play the Benny Hill theme while you're cleaning, you will be finished in no time.
