M and I had a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow bloggers The Village Carpenter and Presbyfruit for lunch on Saturday.
The lunch went really well, I think we all felt safe that none of us were ax murderers or stalkers and had a lot of fun meeting with people who seem to share similar odd senses of humor and fun stories.
They are both just as funny and sweet in person as they are on-line and I hope we are going to try to meet up again sometime!
Maria had replied to one of my posts that she has met 3 fellow bloggers and 2 did not go well.
I guess it can be hit or miss with people you meet online.
I have to say that for the most part I have been extremely fortunate. Most of the people I have met I have kept in touch with or have become good friends with, but there were 2 that all I have to say is that I am glad I met them in either a public place or in the company of a lot of other people!!!
One of the people I met told me the story of how she was driving up from the south to confront another person she met online because the person mis-lead her into thinking that they had some kind of a "relationship". I sat in a diner with this woman for nearly 2 hours while she told me the whole convoluted story in minute detail.
I made very sure not to take a direct route home that night and was very thankful she did not know my home address...the whole meeting was just kind of creepy.
On the other side of that, M and I met on line on a lesbian chat room I used to host - 11 years later...we're still together!
It is always best to err on the side of caution whenever you are meeting anyone for the first time. Just as we teach our kids to be aware of pedophiles, we as adults need to be just as cautious.

I love it when blogs collide happily, Shazza.
I've been really lucky so far. Ame and Bear came over to London from San Francisco and we had a marvellous time. Similarly when Robyn brought her family over from Ohio it was great. I love being a London tour guide!
And my local blogpal in Norwich, Joy, is so much fun.
I'm glad your meeting went well. I've been lucky as well. I've met 5 on-line connections and they've all been as they appeared on-line, as I hoped they would be.
I agree, caution is key.
So glad Presby and I were able to successfully conceal our true "axe murderer/stalker" personas. hee hee
We had a great time and are looking forward to seeing you two again!
Thanks for the forewarning about online meet-ups. I tend to be little too trusting in that department.
Amen there Shazza!
