Looks like fun!

There is a skating rink set up across the street from the hotel I am staying at. I have been watching them for a while now.

The Zamboni has just finished cleaning the ice.

Two attendants skated around a bit and then opened up the 4 gates and everyone flooded out on to the ice.

One very eager little person (hard to tell if it's a boy or a girl from where I am standing), rushed out in a flurry - skuff, skuff...fall. He/she gets right back up: skuff, skuff, skuff fall, right back up again. I'm laughing at his/her determination. Perhaps he will be the next Wayne Gretzky or Brian Boitano. Maybe she has aspirations to be the next Bonnie Blair whizzing across the ice!?!?

The center of the rink is for the people who want to show off a bit. They spin and swirl around trying to remember all those ice skating lessons that their parents paid for when they were younger! There is a women in what looks like a white fuzzy/furry hat and coat performing some very graceful spins and then she skates over to a child and attempts to show her/him how it's done. I can see from this distance the reluctance on the part of the child. So, White Fur spins around again making it look so easy that anyone could do it. The child obviously unimpressed just stands there!

There are a lot of pairs skating. Young couples out on a chilly holiday date skating very close enjoying the romance, keeping warm. Other pairs cling to each other in what looks like a desperate attempt to keep each other from falling down.

I hear a lot of whoops and laughs and screams of pure fun. Simple fun! COOOOLD fun.

I am very glad I have this view from my room to keep me company during the week, very glad indeed!

oooh, looks nice there. we have a skating rink just around the corner and when we moved in we thought,"oh, we're gonna get a season pass and skate all the time. isn't it great?". we wen't once so far (in two years, that is).
I really don't understand how it happens though. I love skating, I even played hockey for a while...but somehow we can't manage to get our lazyness to leave...

Maybe you should ask her out on a date and just go?
