Lyrics

Have you ever been somewhere: driving in a car, walking down a street, in a restaurant - whatever and you hear a song that just pulls your attention directly to it?

This happens to me all of the time. I have stopped talking mid-sentence to listen to a song. I don't always know what it is about that particular song at that particular time in space that attracts me. Whatever it is, it has opened me up to new artists, and reacquainted me with older ones.

Driving home, I usually listen to a book on CD or my iPod. I very rarely listen to the radio. The on air personalities usually annoy the heck out of me as do the endless commercials, but when I do listen I tend to listen to stations that aren't the big name, mainstream, commercial ridden, let's try to be funnier than the other station, station.

Anyway - I usually put XPN on when I'm in Philly. It's a Public radio station and they play a wide variety of music which I like.

One night in particular...I got in my car...turned on the radio...didn't like the song that was playing at that moment, so I turned the volume down really low. Halfway over the Ben Franklin bridge...something on the radio caught my attention.

It was the beat of the song. Slow...seductive...dark.

The voice was familiar, but I couldn't place it. Female - country/folk singer.

The lyrics I heard when I turned the song up to listen to it were:

God knows why you don't want me
No one would do the things I do
But to my grave it's gonna haunt me
How I got down on my knees for you
You are my obsession
And the reason that I live
You alreday got my soul
There's nothin left to give

ohhhhhh!

The chorus:

But I don't want to talk about it now
I don't want to talk about it now
I don't want to talk about it now
I wanna go down
Ohhh...ohhhh...ohhhh!
The song is called: I dont' want to Talk about it now
The Artist: Emmylou Harris
Great song!

haven't listened to her in a while now...maybe I should update my ipod.
and I totally understand your radio aversion. I'm the same. we have no decent radio station at all in austria...so I usually go with podcasts of talk radio shows or i just listen to some music on the go...

Not familiar with that song. Will have to check it out. I only listen to xpn or npr and had a similar stop-dead-in-your-tracks experience the other day with a Michelle Shocked song called "Anchorage".

Songs hit me like that sometimes. Often they are years past their release/prime. I fall in love with songs lover after everyone else is...been there/done that.

... and I don't care.

Enjoy!!!
